I went to the Atkins book yet again with an open mind, and decided to try the diet. I took the contrarian viewpoint to the current position of the AMA low fat diet, which seemed to be producing a society of increasing obesity. Atkins view of sugar as the culprit making you fat, not fat, sensible and the extra work of all proteins in the kidney. . . it is benign. I wanted to use his diet as a tool for myself completely from all the sugar. I started the high protein, low carb aspect of the diet. As I review the animal protein in my diet I could feel the cold even more and finally stopped. I also noticed my stomach muscles start to open and swell again. The cold of winter was not as painful as it was, but my vegan diet. Then I have the courage to begin to gain fat in my diet, including bacon, egg yolk, cream, cheese, cream, cream, even bacon rinds. On a daily basis, I admire the eating of those &#8220;forbidden foods&#8221; only to wake up the next day too thin, slim. I could not believe that this result! I was loving eating all these foods so familiar yet banished since. . . childhood I was in full swing eating the high fat, high protein, low carb diet at the time the photos on my website were taken. www. It takes a bit more discipline, but my energy is back and I can now eat the same meals as my husband so dinner preparation is simpler. My weight has not changed since I gradually introduced the carbs. I avoid at all costs the &#8220;white foods&#8221; flour, sugar, milk. I drink unsweetened soy milk I avoid foods in packages, boxes and bags. I feel a fine layer of fat, but that&#8217;s okay winter, I need it, and in the summer heat melting is always off.
